48 HOURS · THREE CHALLENGES

Competitions

A random splash of paint. A movie without a poster. 48 hours to build something of your own. Not every competition is about getting the right answer — sometimes, it's about what you can come up with when there isn't one.

THIS YEAR

This year's three competitions are all about creativity, interpretation and thinking outside the obvious. Here's what we've got lined up.

01

Start with a mess. End with a masterpiece.

Art or Accident?

What can you create from something you never planned? Teams of 3–5 will receive a canvas or sheet covered with a random "accident" — maybe paint splashes, scribbles, strange shapes, textures or torn-paper effects.

Then comes the fun part: you have to make sense of it. You can't erase or completely cover the original marks; instead, turn them into part of the artwork. A splash could become a galaxy. Random lines could become a city. A messy texture could become an entire landscape.

Everyone starts with an unexpected mess. What you turn it into is up to you.

02

You know the movie. Now forget the poster.

Reimagined: Roll Credits

The story stays the same. Your interpretation doesn't have to. Your job is to create a poster from scratch, as if the original had never existed — using only the movie title and, where needed, a short synopsis.

You'll have to figure out how to capture the film's story, mood and personality in one completely new visual. No recreating the original. No copying what's already been done.

Same movie. Completely different vision.

03

Make the space part of the artwork.

Mosaic City

This one gives you 48 hours to take an idea and turn it into something people can actually step up to, look at, and experience. Participants will create a large-scale artwork or installation to be displayed on the final day of the event.

There are no fixed districts or one prescribed format — you decide what your creation becomes. Build a sculpture. Create a mural. Experiment with mixed media. Make an interactive installation. Use projection, props, live art… whatever fits your idea.

After 48 hours of creating and setting up, your work becomes part of the final-day exhibition, where visitors and judges get to experience what you've made. It's basically a test of how far you can take an idea when you're given the space to actually build it.
